Fourth guests: Consume Bar
Christian Pantzer and Tony Hunt
Mon, FEBRUARY 27, 2017 – 6 PM .
Consume that was lead by Christian Pantzer, Daniel Kohl and Tony Hunt, Jim Dudley is a nomadic, at times self-propelled, bar and soundsystem, maybe an installation, initiated in a few subterranean, derelict rooms of the Städel in 1991. Back then, the bar ran for three hours every Thursday evening, with "Last Orders" being called at 8:45 pm. At this time, there was no Mensa in the Städel and there wasvery little chance for students and professors to meet and discuss informally. Consume provided, for a moment or two, a social hub or place where ideas could be tested as heatedly as one needed too. Soon Consume progressed out of the Städel to turn it's attention to all kinds of latent spaces in other cities in Europe and as far as Thailand.

Invitation Primary Structures, MMK2 Frankfurt
Primary Structures. Meisterwerke der Minimal Art
MMK 2
22. Februar 2017 — 13. August 2017
Eröffnung: Dienstag, 21. Februar 2017, 20 Uhr
Two primary series and one secondary".
Künstlerinnen und Künstler der Ausstellung: Carl Andre, Richard Artschwager, Jo Baer, Bernd und Hilla Becher, Michael Beutler, Benedikte Bjerre, Alighiero Boetti, Bill Bollinger, George Brecht, Marcel Broodthaers, Walter De Maria, Dan Flavin, Ceal Floyer, William Forsythe, Günther Förg, Isa Genzken, Hermann Goepfert, Bethan Huws, Donald Judd, On Kawara, Ellsworth Kelly, Joseph Kosuth, Gary Kuehn, Barry La Va, Robert Mangold, Teresa Margolles, Sarah Morris, Bruce Nauman, Kenneth C. Luxury Problems: Lesekreis / Reading Group
Luxury Problems
Reading Group
Monday, 13th February 2017, 1pm
Next Monday, the reading group will meet to discuss the so-called »headscarf debate«. From the hijab to the burka, the veil is today regarded by the media and politics of many Western countries, especially France, Germany, and the Netherlands, as a symbol of the oppression of women. But this narration is by no means new: The equation of unveiling and the liberation of women already legitimized the West’s colonial and missionary campaign. According to this line of argument, the Muslima wearing a veil is robbed of her self-determination and victimized. Based on emancipation, equality, and self-determination—basic concepts of white, Western feminisms—not only do new capitalistic mechanisms of exploitation emerge, neoliberal governments and right-wing, populist parties use them to provide grounds for patriarchal, racist, and islamophobic modes and practices of rule. Feminism is thus made an instrument for war, border controls, deportations, and racism. In the reading group, we would like to examine different lines of argument of these debates and raise the following questions: To what extent has Western modernity and secularism brought »progress« to women? Why are religious differences currently foregrounded so strongly? Why are Muslimas increasingly becoming the venue of »othering«?
The text is available via info@halle-fuer-kunst.de. Since the places where the reading circle gathers will vary each time, please ask for the respective meeting place by writing to this address.
The exhibition »Gebaerden und Ausdruck« with works by Liz Craft, Michaela Eichwald, Fanal, Birke Gorm, Julia Haller, Honey Suckle Company, Helena Huneke, Stefan Kern, Veit Laurent Kurz & Ben Schumacher & Stefan Tcherepnin and pcnc_bay is on view until February 19th 2017 at Halle fuer Kunst Lueneburg.

WOUO (a word of unknown origin)
a publication of artist texts, edited and designed by John Ryaner
featuring texts by Susan Conte, Faye Green, Erika Landström, Ingo Niermann, Samuel Hasler, Aniara Omann, Line Ebert, and John Ryaner
WOUO is a collection of fictional texts which chose words of unknown origin as a starting point. (a word of unknown origin is a word without a known ethymological source – there's lots of them). During the development of the publication eight artists were sent a large and random group of lonely words of unpinpointable beginnings (267 wouos and counting) and were asked to contribute a text which somehow themed around the list of wouords. The result is WOUO, a book of nine quite different but often similar wordy texts.
WOUOS: askance, ballyhoo, bamboozle, bantar, barney, baroque, bevy, bigot, bizarre, blight, blizzard, bludgeon, bogan, bogus, bonkers, botch, bozo, brazen, brick, bug, buggy, bully, bungle, burlap, bustle, busy, cagey, chad, chap, cheese, chow chow, chum, clobber1, clobber2, clobber3, coddle, codswallop, coil, condom, conniption, connundrum, copacetic, cricket, cub, cuddle, culvert, curmudgeon, dandle, dildo, dill, dippy, dodge, dogie, dowse, drivel, dyke, fink, fit, flabbergast, flare, flivver, flub, flue, fond, fret, frowzy, fuddle, fuddy-duddy, fun, galoot, gammon, gandy dancer, garish, gash, gee, gimmick, gimp1, gimp2, gink, gizmo, gloom, gourmand, griff, groom, guilt, hag, hazy, hemlock, hijack, hip, hip2, hobbledehoy, hobo, hoity-toity, hokey-pokey, honky, hoodlum, hooey, hootenanny, hornswoggle, humbug, hunch, inkling, jack, jake, jalopy, jamboree, jaunt, jazz, jeer, jerkin, jib, jiffy, jitney, jive, joey1, joey2, josh, kibble, kike, kilter, kit, lad, langer, lobscouse, lollygag, lummox, malarkey, masturbate, moolah, mosey, mull1, mull2, nag, nerd, nifty, nitty-gritty, noggin, oodles, palmistry, palooka, palter, peevish, pernickity, peter, pike, pimp, pixie, ploy, pod1, pod2, pogey, pooch, pot, pother, privet, puzzle, quiff, quirk, race, rascal, rate, raunchy, rinky-dink, rouse, rowdy, rubber, runt, scad, scallywag, scam, scoundrel, scrim, scrimshaw, shebang, shelta, shenanigans, shim, shingle, shoddy, shuck, skag, skedaddle, skulduggery, slang, sleather, sleazy, slouch, sludge, slum, slut, snazzy, snide, snig, snit, snitch, snooker, snooze, sobriquet, splice, spliff, sprain, sprocket, spunk, sqaunder, squid, stash, stooge, strand1, stymie, sulky, surf, swatch, swig, swizzle, taffy, tag, tantrum, tinker, tizzy, toddle, toggle, tormentil, tot1, tot2, transmogrify, trash, trick, trifle, trinket, trounce, turmoil, twerp, wack, welterweight, whim, willies, williwaw, wingding, wonk, wouo, wraith, yank, yankee, yegg, zilch, zindfandel, zit, etc, etc.

Eröffnung / Opening MICHAEL KREBBER – The Living Wedge
KUNSTHALLE BERN
MICHAEL KREBBER
THE LIVING WEDGE
18. FEBRUAR – 30. APRIL 2017
Eröffnung: FREITAG, 17. FEBRUAR 2017, 18 Uhr
Ab 23 Uhr Musik von Justus Köhncke im Playground, Bern
Michael Krebber (*1954 in Cologne, lives in New York) has been leading a double life as a rumor for many years. He fostered this iridescence by exhibiting little or nothing. From a certain moment onward, the painter showed a bit more, but it was always about how much an artist ought to display. The scene of this critical self-staging as an actor of art was 1990s Cologne. On account of this prelude, it was for a long time difficult to distinguish Michael Krebber’s activities from what was said, purported, or speculated about him. For many young artists in Europe and the United States, Krebber offers a projection screen that can hardly be overestimated. While little known to the general public, many traits of MK, who repeatedly sheds his skin, are negotiated within the art world. People actually work things through with him in mind.
The Living Wedge, organized in cooperation with the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto, presents a comprehensive selection of the artist’s works since the 1980s for the first time in Switzerland. The show is thus a culminating point of the Kunsthalle Bern’s program line that puts the meaning of painting for the present and future of art up for debate. […]

Einladung zur Pressekonferenz und Auftakt der Veranstaltungsreihe “Wohnungsfragen. Impulse bei NiKa”
BEZAHLBAR UND UNVERKÄUFLICH: SOLIDARISCH WOHNEN IM FRANKFURTER BAHNHOFSVIERTEL
Montag, 06.02.2017, 13 Uhr
Im künftigen Hausprojekt NiKa, Niddastraße 57
mit Katharina Wagner (Amt für Wohnungswesen, Stadt Frankfurt), Eva Jochim (Mietshäuser Syndikat) und Julia König, Melanie Schreiber, Jessica Sehrt und Jeronimo Voss (Hausprojekt NiKa)
* Das Hausprojekt NiKa als Modell für eine solidarische Stadt
* Finanzierung: 3,6 Mio.
